Sunset over the Smoky Mountains--From our Backyard
I'm back into the world of blogging after many days of silence.
We made the trip from Indiana to South Carolina in about 10 hours. When we arrived here, there was supper and a crew from the church waiting to help us unload. Though weary in body, we were able to get the moving truck unpacked that night, with the beds sat up, and washer and dryer hooked up. What a blessing!!
It has taken us awhile to get settled, but I think we are getting there.
Will try to update more later.

Touching Lives
Today after the morning service the church people had a pitch-in dinner/good-by party for us. I was told not to prepare any food. They would take care of it all. (Which was a nice change.) They had gifts for us and a love offering was given. Words of appreciation were spoken and tears were shed. It was so nice to realize that we have touched lives, made a difference, and been a blessing to the people here. Our journey leads us onward but these people will always hold a special place in our hearts. They have been a blessing to us. It is great to be able to help each other along this journey to heaven. Easter Sunday is our last service here. On Monday, the 9th we get our moving truck and load up. One of the church families have invited us for supper that evening and Tuesday morning we will begin another part of this life's adventure in South Carolina.

Peep-frogs!
We've heard the peep-frogs for the past couple weeks. They have brought back memories of a childhood in Pennsylvania.
What a celebration there was when the peep frogs were heard for the first time each year. We delighted in the joyous sound of these little creatures. Warm, spring days followed. What a time we had as we smelled the earth waking up from its long nap, looked for trailing arbutus and watched for frog eggs in the pond. As we enjoyed these things though, Grandma would always say, "The peep-frogs have to be frozen over three times before spring is really here." Sure enough, Grandma was right. Soon those warm spring days would begin to cool off and once again the winter cold would hold the earth in it's grip again. Freezing tempertures would send the peep-frogs down in the mud and their wonderful song could no longer be heard. Slowly, the days would creep by and finally a thaw would set in and the peep-frogs would sing again. We went through the ritual of counting "the freezing of the peep-frogs" and what a wonderful day when the last freeze was a thing of the past.
Life is something like the freezing and thawing of the spring. Life is going great, the peep-frogs are singing joyously and suddenly circumstances like the winter cold hold us in a tight grip. The peep-frogs have burrowed deep in the mud and all sounds of joy have vanished. We wonder if the peep-frogs will ever sing again. Though its a long time in coming the peep-frogs will sing again. God is ever faithful to bring the spring thaw to our hearts. He knows that the freezing temperatures of circumstances will prepare us to embrace the springtime of growth in our hearts with praise and thanksgiving to Him.

He Knoweth
"...He knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness:...the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing." Deuteronomy 2:7
He knoweth. What a comfort that statement is when the "He" is God Almighty. He knoweth the trials we go through, He knoweth the triumphs we face, He knoweth how to guide and provide just as He did for the Isralites as they walked through the wilderness those 40 long years. They lacked for nothing, as long as they hearkened to the voice of the Lord. He was there to carry them over the rough places. He was there to lead them when they way became blurred. He was there to provide for there needs. He always came through. We serve the same God today. He longs to make sure we are lacking nothing. His main concern is to make sure we have no lack in our soul. He knows the pain and heartaches we suffer and He is ready to gather us close and to carry us. (See Deut. 1:31) We may not understand all of God's ways but we must lean on Him for He knoweth...
In Deuteronomy 4:7 it states, "For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon Him for?" What a blessing to have a God who is interested in every detail of our lives! He is nigh when we need Him. He won't leave us in the wilderness alone. He is there. I'm so thankful that "He knoweth my walking.." and is "nigh...in all things that {I} call upon Him for.
